This is a successful collaboration between Prof. Li Wei, a notable fashion design and educator in Tsinghua University, and Dr. Yu Lei. It was also a happy journey between art design and 3D printing technology. TPU, a type of 3D printing FDM filament, was chosen regarding its elastic character which is a suitable for clothes. Dr. Yu Lei designed and programed a cellular pattern through algorithm and fabricated these “fabric” from his 3D printing farm. Prof. Li Wei tailer these materials into a set of unique fashion.
